Drywall up...taping and mudding next week

We are finally done trying to imagine what our house would look like with walls!  The drywall was put up this week.  I am guessing it will be a good portion of next week until taping and mudding is done.

Pretty cool that they drywall the garage for you.  I don't even know what to do with a garage that has drywall in it. I feel like i'm going to get it dirty or something.  I should probably throw some dirt on the walls to break it in.

First thing this morning I got a call saying that the concrete truck was stuck in the driveway.  This is the picture I received.  I got a message a few minutes later saying that the truck was able to be pulled out.  Thank God.  I can think of other things I want to pay for besides getting a cement truck pulled out.  It looks like we may have to beef up the drive way a little though so the rest of workers can get in and out.  I am pretty sure the problem is the truck just missed the driveway.  The construction dumpster sits is to close to the one edge and forces trucks to drive where there is no deep base of compacted gravel.  Don't really know how I could have foreseen this issue but I will definitely think of it next time.

Had decent weather today for pouring concrete, better than -11 degrees Fahrenheit we had last week.  I took some pictures of the garage and front porch.  The basement is poured as well but I am not nimble enough to get into the house today.  I don't think the little cat walk they had up to the back door was intended for a 280 lb fella.  I started up it but decided my boots were too muddy and was worried that I might slip.  Man am I a wuss.

Garage Insulation

Whenever we signed our agreement for our house they told us that the garage would not be insulated but it would get drywall.  I am now kicking myself for not asking how much it would cost for them to just insulate it for me.  Well kinda....I did get a sweet ladder out of it.  I am not an expert so please don't laugh at my miserable attempt at putting up insulation.  It took me the better part of 8 hours to insulate 2 walls and a portion of the ceiling of my garage.  I also insulated the pipes from upstairs toilet that run over the living room/dinette area.

The picture above shows where I put a piece of osb to seperate the roof above the garage from that above the porch.  All the insulation with backing paper is the stuff I put in.

Check out that ladder...8' of pure sexytime.  The garage is a lot taller than i thought it would be. It is just over ten feet.

The two black hoses coming through the window are for the gas heaters that are in the basement.  They are going to be pouring concrete this week and need to keep any frost away.

Shingles on Insulation in....Waiting for Drywall and Concrete

It has been a little while since I posted an update.  Unfortunately there hasn't been much activity to report over the holidays.  Not surprising....I think everyone likes to be off this time of year.  Roofers were here today.  I am hoping they were able to finish up by the end of the day.  The picture is from lunch time.  The insulation has been installed.  Gas heaters were running in the basement and garage to remove frost so that we can pour concrete.  Hopefully we have a garage and basement floor very soon.  It was actually warm in the house today.  The insulation seemed to dampen sounds which made it feel much more finished than before it was installed.  It just sounded hollow.  Drywall is hopefully being installed next week.  I am going to have to insulate the garage this weekend before drywall goes up.  Wayne homes does not insulate the exterior walls of the garage.  Not really a big deal, if you talk to your building manager they will let you know when it is time for you to put the insulation in.  We are also going to insulation around the pipes coming from upstairs bathrooms to dampen sound.
