Electrical and Plumbing Fixtures

It feels like slow going at this point but it is all stuff that needs to get done.  Electrical outlets and light fixtures are almost all installed but for some reason I forgot to take pictures of them.  I did take some pics of the bathroom sinks and counter tops.  The counter top colors are still  switched and the new ones haven't come in yet but for some reason they installed the sinks anyway.  I talked to our field manager about it and he said it will be taken care of but I still don't get why plumbing it in and caulking it into place was the best choice when you know it is coming back out anyway.  Oh well, as long as I don't get a bill and it doesn't hold us up from getting in this house I don't care.

Main bath on 2nd floor

Double Sinks, they cost extra but I did some calculations.  $25 for a case of beer for me, $75 for a pair of shoes for my wife, and $50 for one dinner out to apologize.  If this sink stops 4 fights from happening it will have paid for itself....I'm kidding....sort of.

Got a light fixture and a toilet.  Can't tell if the toilet is small or it looks small because we got extra tall cabinets.  I think it is a bit of both.

Main bath on 2nd floor.

Railing at top of steps.  Looks darker than it really is.  Totally love the color.  Was thinking that we should have went with oak with white spindles until they actually stained it.

Loft area at the top of steps.  We are going to put a couch and TV up here.

Baby's Room.  Will be vacant until the end of May but we got a crib and some other furniture thanks to some of Jen's friends from work.

Bella's room.  You can't see it but I think she has the biggest closet in the whole house.

Kitchen Cabinets and Doors are In

So all of the kitchen cabinets are in.  It seems like the trim carpenters are cruising right along.  All the doors are hung as well.  I think they will be finishing up jambing and casing all the windows and doors next.

This is the best I could do to get a picture of the whole kitchen together.  You can see the island that has been put in since yesterday.  We had them wire in for under cabinet lighting so I guess we should go pick those out now.

Here is the pantry and area where the refrigerator will be.

French doors that separate the office and family room.  The glass has some kind of coating on it right now.

Cabinets and Trim Started

Today at lunch we stopped by the house to see if the cabinet and trim guys had gotten started yet.  Half of the cabinets in the kitchen were up as well as the cabinets in the main and master bathrooms.  I am hoping the kitchen is all setup by the time we get off of work.  That would be awesome.

Refrigerator will be located in between the pantry cabinet and cabinets by the doorway.  The cabinets by the doorway will be where we have our phone line installed and where we put down our keys when you walk in the door from the garage.  All cabinets in the kitchen will get a molding around the top when they are done.

Corner cabinet hung up.  The door for the corner cabinet is made of glass.  Should look fancy but not quite schmancy.  Nobody likes schmancy.

Main bath cabinets.  There was an issues with the counter tops.  The factory switched the main bath and master.  Wayne homes got it all taken care of for us.  Correct counters should be arriving this week.

Dark cabinets with a double sink for the master bath. No more fighting over the sink.  I guess we will have to to think of something else to fight about.

Siding and trim update

This was what the siding looked like right after work.  The guys were finishing up.  They did all the siding and all the trim in one day.

I snapped a pic this morning to show it after the siding crew had cleaned up.

Siding is going up quick!!!

Siding started today.  They actually think they will be done today.  These are the pictures that I took at lunch time.  We finally can see our choice in siding and trim.  We did a storm grey siding with wide white trim and no shutters.  It cost extra to upgrade to the darker grey siding and we were worried that we went to dark.  Seeing it now, I definitely do not think that.  The wide white trim is really gonna pop!!!  At the the time we were going through all the options we wanted to do some kind of brick or stone on the house.  Instead we saved some money by just doing straight vinyl and upgraded our kitchen cabinets and added an island.  I think we made the right decision.

All the windows on the front side of the house have a wide 5" trim.

By lunch time they are just getting started with the porch.

Left side of the house is pretty much done.

Another view of the front porch.

Back side of the house almost done.
